For accounting & CPA firms

The only Vancouver MSP run by a CPA.

Before founding Purplo, our owner earned a CPA and ran technology inside accounting practices. We know what April 30th feels like, why Caseware locks matter, and that "the server is down" during busy season isn't an inconvenience — it's lost billings and blown deadlines.

The stakes

Your engagement letters promise confidentiality. Your IT has to deliver it.

  • Client financial data, SINs, and payroll records make your firm a priority target — and a PIPEDA breach means notifying every affected client by name.
  • Tax software version upgrades land every January, right before you need everything stable.
  • CRA Represent a Client, e-filing, and Auto-fill go down at the worst times — you need someone who knows which failures are yours and which are Ottawa's.
  • Larger audit clients now send security questionnaires. "We have antivirus" doesn't pass anymore.
  • Seasonal staff need accounts created in hours, then properly deactivated in May — most breaches walk in through a forgotten login.
What we handle

IT built around the rhythm of a practice year.

Tax-season readiness

Change freeze from mid-February through April. Pre-staged spare workstations. Extended support hours around filing deadlines. Software rollouts tested in January, not discovered in March.

Practice application support

We keep the environment under Caseware, TaxCycle, Profile, QuickBooks, Xero, and your document management stable — and coordinate with vendors so you never sit between two support desks.

Confidentiality & compliance

MFA everywhere, encrypted devices, managed email security, and tested backups — with the written evidence you need for cyber insurance and client security questionnaires.

Peer review & audit trail support

Retention policies and archives that actually retrieve prior-year files when a practice inspection or a reassessment asks for them.

"We budget IT the way you'd advise a client to: capital vs. operating, per-seat unit economics, and no line item that can't be explained in one sentence."

Common questions

Asked by managing partners.

Do you support Caseware, TaxCycle, Profile, and QuickBooks environments?

Yes. We manage the servers, workstations, and cloud environments they run on, coordinate directly with the software vendors during year-end rollouts, and schedule maintenance around your deadlines — never during them.

Can you handle the security questionnaires our larger clients send us?

Yes. Our plans include the controls and written evidence you need to answer them confidently — MFA enforcement, endpoint detection and response, tested backups, and documented policies.

What happens during tax season?

We freeze non-essential changes from mid-February through the end of April, extend support coverage around deadlines, and pre-stage spare hardware so a failed machine never costs a preparer a day.

We have 8 people. Are we too small for you?

No — 5 to 50 seats is exactly who we build for. You get the same security posture a 200-person firm has, at a per-seat price that makes sense for a practice your size.
