An accountant walked into a server room. He stayed.
Purplo exists because our founder kept watching good firms get bad IT — billed by the hour, explained in jargon, and planned by nobody.
The story
Before Purplo, our founder qualified as a Chartered Professional Accountant and spent years running operations and technology inside retail, wholesale, technology companies, and public-practice accounting firms. The same pattern showed up everywhere: technology was the second-largest controllable expense on the income statement, and the only one nobody could explain.
IT providers billed hourly, so their incentive was more problems, not fewer. Reports came in jargon. Budgets didn't exist. And every year the invoice grew while the systems didn't improve.
Purplo was founded in 2007 to run IT the way a good professional practice runs itself: documented, planned, transparently priced, and accountable for outcomes. Nearly two decades later, that's still the whole model — flat fees that reward us for preventing problems, quarterly reviews in plain English, and a client roster we deliberately keep small enough that a partner can call and reach someone who knows their firm.
What we believe
- Prevention beats repair. A flat fee means we make money when things don't break. Our incentives finally point the same direction as yours.
- Transparency is a feature. Published pricing, written scopes, and invoices with no mystery lines. Our founder is a CPA; hiding numbers is against his religion.
- Depth over breadth. Three verticals, four services, Greater Vancouver. Being deliberately small is why our clients stay for years.
- Plain English is a technical skill. If we can't explain a recommendation in one paragraph a managing partner understands, it isn't ready to recommend.
